Japan does not recognize Russian presidential election in occupied Crimea

Japan supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and does not recognize the Russian “election” in the occupied Crimea.

"Japan does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in March 2014 and, therefore, does not consider valid the so-called Russian presidential election in Crimea on March 18, 2018," reads the statement of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, released on March 22.

The Embassy also underscores: "Japan supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and does not recognize the attempts to change the status quo through the use of force."
