Court could decide on pretrial restraint for Savchenko on Friday

The Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv will decide on the pretrial restraint for MP Nadiya Savchenko. The court hearing is likely to take place on Friday, March 23.

Spokesman for the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine Andriy Lysenko said this on the air of 112 Ukraine TV channel, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Currently, Nadiya Savchenko stays in the judicial investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine as an already detained person. She is interviewed in the presence of lawyers. A motion is being prepared for the court to elect a pretrial restraint in the form of detention in custody... The court hearing is most likely to take place tomorrow. We already know that the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv will consider the case," he said.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has given today its consent to the prosecution, detention and arrest of Ukrainian MP Nadiya Savchenko.

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said in parliament on March 15 that the investigation had irrefutable evidence that Savchenko personally plotted a terrorist attack in the Verkhovna Rada. On the same day, he sent a motion to parliament on the prosecution, detention and arrest of MP Savchenko.
