Parliament’s committee recognizes PGO motions on Savchenko's arrest as legitimate

The parliament’s regulations committee has recognized as legitimate, sufficient and justified all three motions submitted by the Prosecutor General’s Office to the Verkhovna Rada on the prosecution, detention and arrest of MP Nadia Savchenko.

These decisions were unanimously supported at the committee’s meeting on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In particular, according to the resolution of the committee, the motions submitted by the PGO on the detention and arrest of MP Nadia Savchenko are justified in view of the fact that she could leave the territory of Ukraine and hide from pre-trial investigation bodies, and also because she did not refuse to commit crimes.

As Ukrinform reported, on March 15, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that the investigation had evidence that Savchenko planned a terrorist attack in the session hall of the Ukrainian parliament.
