Ukraine urges representative of NATO countries not to recognize results of ‘election’ in Crimea

Ukraine’s representatives during a panel discussion of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council have called on the representatives of the NATO member countries not to recognize the results of Russia’s "presidential election" in the occupied Crimea.

Head of the Permanent Parliamentary Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Iryna Friz, wrote this on her Facebook page.

"We called on the representatives of the NATO member countries not to recognize the results of Vladimir Putin’s "election" as the Russian president in the occupied Crimea, because the election is held in violation of international law. Only elections without choice are possible under the occupation authorities on the peninsula," Friz noted.

On March 5-6, the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council with participation of First Deputy Verkhovna Rada Chairperson Iryna Gerashchenko is taking place in Odesa. The event is organized by representatives of the Permanent Parliamentary Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
