Ukrainian PM plans to participate in parliamentary elections

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman plans to participate in the next parliamentary elections in 2019.

He stated this at a discussion of the 2017 government report with regional media, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I plan to participate in the next parliamentary elections. A question that every politician should ask is why you do this... We have almost two years left before the 2019 regular elections, and life is not over after 2019. Ukraine should establish itself as a strong state. In this context, I can say that I will participate in order to fight for concrete necessary decisions," Groysman said.

In his opinion, a new electoral system with open party lists should be adopted before the next parliamentary elections. In this context, Groysman recalled that the parliament had passed at first reading "a good law that can be finalized before second reading."

Groysman ran for parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2014 as a candidate from the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko.
