Annexation of Crimea and Russia’s aggression in Donbas: Justice Ministry submits witness testimonies to ECHR

Ukraine has submitted to the European Court of Human Rights the causes of action on two cases over the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia and the military conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko said this on the air of the 112 TV channel, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As of today, out of the five major interstate cases, Ukraine has submitted the causes of action, arguments, witness testimonies on two cases. Nearly 200 witnesses were registered. The first case relates to the illegal annexation of Crimea. The second case relates to Donbas,” the minister said.

According to him, Ukraine expects the ECHR to determine this year the procedural schedule and clear timeline for considering these two cases.

As reported, a total of 4,226 cases over the events in Crimea and Donbas have been registered at the ECHR. Of them, 257 have been filed against the Russian Federation.
