France supports deployment of UN peacekeepers throughout occupied territory of Donbas - Foreign Ministry

The foreign ministers of Ukraine and France have a unified position regarding the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission throughout the occupied territory of Donbas.

The press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine informed this following the negotiations between Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Minister for European and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian that took place in Paris.

"During the talks, the main attention was focused on the political settlement of the conflict in Donbas caused by Russian aggression ... Both ministers reached a principled position on sequential steps in order to achieve a permanent security situation in ORDLO. The ministers also had the unified position regarding the role of the UN peacekeeping mission and the need for its deployment throughout the occupied territory of Donbas, the format of which should comply with the Minsk agreements," the report reads.

Klimkin highly appreciated France's efforts as a party of the "Normandy format" in securing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

In turn, Le Drian assured his Ukrainian counterpart that France would remain a reliable partner of Ukraine in overcoming current challenges.

During the discussion of bilateral cooperation, the ministers welcomed the dynamics of trade cooperation between the states. At the same time, they agreed to attract large businesses from France to Ukraine.
