Newly elected President Anastasiades invites Poroshenko to Cyprus

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held a telephone conversation with newly elected Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state has reported.

"The head of the Ukrainian state congratulated his colleague on his re-election to a high position and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Cyprus... The interlocutor invited the head of the Ukrainian state to visit the Republic of Cyprus," the statement reads.

Poroshenko thanked Anastasiades for Cyprus' continued support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in particular, by supporting EU sanctions against Russia and also wished a speedy peace settlement of the "Cyprus question."
