Ukraine initiates proceedings over trip of German lawmakers to occupied Crimea

The criminal proceedings have been initiated over the violation of the procedure for entry to the temporarily occupied territory by the citizens of Germany.

This is reported by the press office of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

"Following consideration of the appeal of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea entered the corresponding data into the unified register of pre-trial investigations and initiated a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings into a criminal offense under Part 1, Article 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine over the violation of the procedure for entry to the temporarily occupied territory by the citizens of Germany," the statement reads.

According to the information of the Prosecutor's Office, on February 3, 2018, the citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany arrived in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, having violated a prescribed procedure for entry to and exit from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. The German citizens planned to use their trip to meet with representatives of the Russian occupation authorities and discuss with them the ways to establish the contacts with the German side.
