Ukraine, Canada agree on priorities of support within G7

Ukraine has agreed with Canada, which holds the G7 presidency this year, on the agenda and priority areas in support of the Ukrainian side.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this at a joint press conference with Governor General of Canada Julie Payette in Lviv on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"[Canadian partners] play a very important role in the Group of Seven, in which Canada presides this year. I am extremely pleased that we and our Canadian partners have agreed on both the agenda and those areas that will be among priorities of the Canadian side in support of Ukraine," he said.

Poroshenko thanked Canada for its strong position in supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of the Ukrainian state since the beginning of Russian aggression.

In addition, he thanked the Canadian side for support in international organizations, where, according to the president, Canada is a co-author of all resolutions that Ukraine proposes for the clear documentation of Russian aggression and a program for the liberation of Ukrainian land from occupation.

The head of state also emphasized the importance of Canada's support for reforms in various spheres in Ukraine.
