Russia not to send its delegation to PACE session in January

Russia will not send its delegation to the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy stated this, Tass reports.

"The Russian Federation will not send its delegation to the PACE session in January due to the fact that the essential condition of our work there, namely the guarantee of non-discrimination of the rights of national delegations, was not included into the regulations of this organization," he said.

He added that the Russian Federation would continue consultations with PACE on this issue.

Russia was deprived of the right to vote in PACE in April of 2014 after the occupation of Crimea and the beginning of military operations in Donbas.

The winter session of the Assembly will be held in Strasbourg, France, on January 22-26.
