Ukraine should work hard to prevent Russia from returning to PACE in 2018

Members of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) should work hard in order to prevent Russia from returning to PACE and softening sanctions against it.

Chairperson of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko said this to journalists, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"In 2018, there will be again attempts to return Russia, issues of lifting and softening sanctions. The Ukrainian delegation must work hard, and I think that the group of 23 people will be able to deal with these attacks," she stressed.

At the same time, she notes that on Wednesday the committee was to consider the issue of the election of the 24th member of the delegation to PACE, representative of the People's Front faction Viktor Yelensky, but given the absence of a quorum, this issue remained unresolved.
