Iryna Herashchenko calls on Verkhovna Rada to condemn Kyiv clashes

The Verkhovna Rada should condemn clashes that took place near the International Center of Culture and Arts (Zhovtnevy Palace) in Kyiv on December 17.

First Deputy Speaker Iryna Herashchenko stated this during a meeting of the Agenda-Setting Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“It is unfair to pretend that we do not notice the events that took place on Sunday when life and health of Ukrainian ordinary citizens were put at risk due to essentially terrorist acts, including the MPs of Ukraine and other so-called politicians, near the Zhovtnevy Palace. I believe this situation requires a consolidated statement from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that we condemn it,” the vice speaker said.

As Ukrinform earlier reported, supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili-led Movement of New Forces held the so-called people's assembly on December 17, after which they tried to storm the Zhovtnevy Palace.
