Canadian foreign minister to visit Ukraine in the second half of December

Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland will visit Ukraine in the second half of December and take part in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian diplomacy.

This issue was discussed during her meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in the framework of the 24th OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

"The ministers have agreed that Chrystia Freeland will visit Ukraine in the second half of December and take part in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian diplomacy," the statement reads.

During the meeting, the ministers noted that Ukraine and Canada had a common position on the issues of counteracting Russian aggression in Crimea and Donbas, applying sanctions and releasing political prisoners by Russia.

Freeland assured Klimkin that these issues would be the focus of attention during Canada's chairmanship at G7.
