President Poroshenko, Australian ambassador discuss preparations for Invictus Games in Sydney

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has discussed with newly appointed Ambassador of Australia to Ukraine Melissa O'Rourke the preparations for Ukraine’s participation in the Invictus Games in Sydney next year.

This issue was raised during the ceremony of accepting credentials by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko from the ambassadors of Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia and Spain, the press service of the Head of State reports.

During the conversation with Ambassador of Australia Mrs. Melissa O'Rourke, the Head of State expressed gratitude for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the unchanging position regarding the necessity of applying sanctions against the Russian Federation.

“The Ambassador noted that Australia would not terminate sanctions until the Russian Federation ceased its aggression against Ukraine. The Australian side confirmed the continuation of the prosthetics project in Ukraine,” the statement reads.

The continuation of cooperation within the Joint Investigation Group on the MH-17 tragedy was also discussed. In addition, the parties discussed preparations for the participation of the Ukrainian team of heroic warriors in the next Invictus Games in Sydney. An important role played by the Ukrainian Diaspora in the life of Australia was also noted.
