International mechanism for de-occupation of Crimea discussed in Brussels

Sanctions against Russia and the launch of an international mechanism for de-occupation of Crimea were the main topics at the meetings of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Brussels during the Eastern Partnership summit, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"As part of participation in the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin held bilateral meetings with EU High Representative Federica Mogerini, EEAS Secretary General Helga Schmid, Dutch Foreign Minister Halbe Zijlstra and Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser. Among the main topics of these meetings were the escalation of the security situation in Donbas, the further deterioration of the situation in the occupied Crimea, the importance of maintaining sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation and the creation of an international mechanism for de-occupation of Crimea," the ministry said.

The minister called on his colleagues to support the UNGA resolution on human rights in Crimea, which was initiated by Ukraine.

The Eastern Partnership summit was held in Brussels on November 24 with the participation of heads of institutions of the European Union and six countries participating in the Eastern Partnership program.
