Luxembourgian foreign minister sees no progress in implementation of Minsk Agreements

Luxembourgian Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn believes that there are currently no grounds for cancelling EU sanctions against Russia due to the lack of progress in the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported, following a meeting between Minister Pavlo Klimkin and his Luxembourgian colleague.

"Jean Asselborn confirmed the Luxembourgian government's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine... The minister noted the lack of progress in the implementation of the Minsk Agreements and noted in this regard that there are no grounds to talk today about the termination of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation," the statement reads.

The ministry reported that during the meeting the sides discussed the current state of bilateral relations, outlined promising directions of practical cooperation, in particular, in the field of air freight, telecommunications and education. In the context of the agenda of the EU-Ukraine relations, they praised the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the introduction of a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU.

As reported, Klimkin made an official visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on November 16.
