Speaker Parubiy informs EU Commissioner about Ukrainian reforms

The Verkhovna Rada continues to work effectively, including on the adoption of decisions related to Ukraine's obligations to the European Union.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy said this during a meeting with Johannes Hahn, the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, in Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We know that we still have many tasks that are part of our obligations to the European Union, but I want to assure you that the Ukrainian Parliament is working effectively and decisively," Parubiy said.

He notes that over the past two months, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the educational, judicial, healthcare and pension reforms and launched a large-scale election reform. The law on privatization was passed in the first reading, the speaker added.

The European Commissioner, in turn, congratulated the members of the parliament on the progress of reforms.
