Poland supports European policy of sanctions against Russia – Duda

Warsaw supports sanctions against Russia, and the visit of President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda to Ukraine in December is closely connected with the war in the east of Ukraine and new responsibilities of Poland as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2018-2019.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said this on the air of Polish Catholic Radio on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We cannot ignore this [the war in the east of Ukraine]. Therefore, we support the European policy of sanctions, we declare our support for Ukraine," Duda said.

He has stressed that in 2018-2019 Poland will be a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and the issue of peace in Ukraine will be on the agenda. Therefore, the visit to Ukraine will be also connected with the actions of Poland in the UN in the Ukrainian direction.

Duda said that he would like Poland's relations with Ukraine to be as good as possible.
