Poroshenko initiates meeting of Consultative Committee of presidents of Ukraine and Poland

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has initiated a special meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland in order to avoid further escalation of tension in bilateral relations against the backdrop of strong statements by the representatives of the Polish government towards Ukraine.

Ukrainian president's press secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko informed this on his Facebook page.

"In order to strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland, and to avoid further escalation of tension, recognizing the need to resolve any problematic issues in bilateral relations exclusively in a civilized European way, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has initiated the holding of a special meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland," the statement reads.

Tsegolko added that the strong statements made by the representatives of the official Polish authorities towards Ukraine and its leadership "cause serious concern and cannot be left without proper response."
