Yelchenko calls on the UN to respond to Russia's ignoring of demands of International Court of Justice

The United Nations should respond to the non-fulfillment by Russia of the decisions of the International Court of Justice regarding the situation with the rights of the national minorities in the occupied Crimea and find a way to force the aggressor to comply with these decisions and international obligations.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Volodymyr Yelchenko said this during a session of the UN General Assembly, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Failure to comply with the decisions of the International Court of Justice is recognized as an internationally wrongful act and a breach of obligations under the treaty, as well as obligations established by the international law. We believe that cases of non-fulfillment of the decisions of the International Court of Justice should be carefully studied by the UN system in order to finally find a way to make states conscientiously implement these decisions," the Ukrainian representative said.

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the International Conference in San Francisco discussed the possibility to recognize the refusal of countries to implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice as an "act of aggression".
