Belarus will continue to provide a "platform" for negotiations on Donbas

Belarus is ready to fully contribute to the work of the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas.

Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei said this at a meeting with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group Ambassador Martin Sajdik on Wednesday, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported.

"Makei noted the importance of the work of the Trilateral Contact Group and its thematic working groups and expressed readiness of Belarus to continue to contribute to its work," the report reads.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues on settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, as well as the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

As Ukrinform reported, a meeting of the working groups of the Trilateral Contact Group was held earlier on October 4. A meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas has begun.

According to the media, it is expected that during the meeting the parties will discuss the issues of implementation of previously reached agreements in the field of security, preparation for the exchange of prisoners, restoration of the infrastructure of the region, political settlement of the conflict.
