Berlin urges Kremlin to release Umerov, Semena

The Government of Germany is concerned about the verdicts passed by the so-called Crimean court upon deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov and Ukrainian journalist Mykola Semena.

Spokesperson of the German government Ulrike Demmer stated this, an Ukrinform correspondent in Germany reported.

"The Federal Government expressed great concern over the verdicts brought against deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov and Ukrainian journalist Mykola Semena," Demmer said.

According to her, these verdicts "once again confirm the report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights of September 25 on difficult situation with human rights in Crimea illegally annexed by Russia."

The Federal Government urges to release the prisoners, the spokeswoman said.
