Ukrainians advised to cross Belarusian-Russian border only by plane

The Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus has recommended that Ukrainian citizens cross the Belarusian-Russian border only by plane, the embassy's press service has reported.

"Russia, referring to the absence of checkpoints through the Russian-Belarusian state border, banned its crossing by citizens of third countries, except citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, including by members of diplomatic, administrative and technical personnel of diplomatic missions, consular offices and representations of international organizations," reads the report.

However, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that from May 15, 2017, the Russian side had carried out border control of aircraft arriving in Russia from Belarus, as well as returning in the opposite direction.

"In this regard, all citizens of third countries, including members of diplomatic, administrative and technical personnel of diplomatic missions, consular offices and representations of international organizations, are recommended to use air transport for trips on the specified route," the embassy said.
