UN Security Council not supports Russia's peacekeeping initiative on Donbas – Yelchenko

A draft resolution of the Russian Federation on the UN peacekeeping mission in the east of Ukraine found no support among the members of the UN Security Council.

Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko said this in an exclusive interview with Ukrinform.

"As of today, almost none of the members of the UN Security Council, except for Russia, spoke in favor of their ideas. Someone just did not say anything. The overwhelming majority said it made no sense to work in a format proposed by Moscow," the Ukrainian representative commented on the situation in the Security Council.

As known, on September 5, the Russian delegation sent to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Security Council President Tekeda Alemu a draft resolution on the deployment of peacekeepers along the conflict line in Donbas.
