State Forest Agency intends to improve normative acts on forest management

The State Forest Resources Agency Ukraine will create a special group to improve normative acts and develop recommendations so that to prevent degradation and drying of forest plantations, the Agrarian Policy and Food Minitry reports.

“We should develop well-grounded proposals on introducing amendments to normative acts on forest management. In particular, this applies to sanitary rules in Ukraine’s forests (the new edition of the Sanitary Rules was adopted on October 26, 2016),” reads the report.

According to the ministry, at present a number of norms of legislative and legal acts of Ukraine do not allow forestry workers to promptly undertake needed measures to fight against plant pests and diseases, which cause significant environmental and economic losses to forestry enterprises and reduce revenues to local budgets.
