G7 ambassadors urge to continue investigation into murder of Sheremet

Ambassadors of the G7 countries stress the importance of continuing the investigation into the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet and bringing those responsible to justice.

This is said in a statement made by the G7 Ambassadors, posted on the website of the Italian Embassy to Ukraine.

"Today is the one year anniversary of the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet. On this occasion, G7 Ambassadors stress the importance of continuing the investigation into his death and bringing those responsible to justice," the statement reads.

The G7 Ambassadors add that they continue to support media freedom in Ukraine and the important role of independent and free media.

As a reminder, Pavel Sheremet was blown up in a car downtown Kyiv on the morning of July 20, 2016. Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko called the main version of the journalist's murder a revenge for his professional activities. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov did not rule out the version that it could be Russian authorities behind the assassination.
