Over 100,000 Ukrainians visited EU without visas - Poroshenko

Over 100,000 Ukrainian citizens have currently taken advantage of the possibility of visa-free travel to the European Union.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this while opening a plenary meeting of the 19th Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"More than 100,000 Ukrainians who have biometric passports have already taken advantage of their right to the visa-free regime and saw with their own eyes and made sure what the European Union is like, where Ukraine is moving, what we should fight for, and for which future the Ukrainian state is fighting today," he said.

Poroshenko again stressed that visa-free travel between Ukraine and the EU "has become a real dividing line between the European future and the Soviet past of our country."

He also said that the Association Agreement had become a symbol of the struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom, independence, and common values with the EU.

A visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens was introduced on July 11, 2017.
