NSDC launches compulsory registration for Russians on Ukrainian territory

Russian citizens who are in Ukraine will have to undergo compulsory registration at the place of their temporary stay, and they will also have to information on their movement through Ukrainian territory.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said this at a council meeting on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"In addition, the NSDC made a respective instruction regarding the mandatory registration of Russian citizens who are in the territory of Ukraine at the place of their temporary stay," he said.

Turchynov added that "the need to provide information on the movement [of Russians] through Ukrainian territory is being introduced."

"This concerns the security of our country. The respective instructions have been given to the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Interior Ministry, the border and migration services, etc. We hope that the relevant program will be implemented by the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant state authorities," he said.

Earlier on Monday, Turchynov stated that citizens of Russia, who wish to enter Ukraine, would have to undergo preliminary electronic registration from the beginning of next year.
