Merkel, Macron and Putin call for ceasefire in Donbas

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin confirm the importance of adherence to a ceasefire in Donbas.

German government spokesman Steffen Seibert stated this, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Merkel, Macron and Putin confirmed the need for a ceasefire in the east of Ukraine," he briefly commented on the results of the meeting without going into details.

Three leaders met on Saturday morning during a working breakfast on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

The parties planned to discuss the work in the "Normandy format" and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
