Macron considers "Normandy format" a way to de-escalate situation in eastern Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron relies on the "Normandy format" and the Minsk process as ways to de-escalate the situation in eastern Ukraine.

He stated this at a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday at the Palace of Versailles, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"For my part, I have reminded President Putin that I seek to achieve de-escalation of the conflict through the "Normandy format" and the Minsk process," the French President said.

Macron said that he had discussed in detail with Putin the situation in Ukraine, including the so-called Minsk process.

"We intend to hold a new round of negotiations in the "Normandy format" with Germany and Ukraine in order to analyze the situation. In the framework of this "Normandy format" we must have a comprehensive report of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission," the French President said.
