Confiscated Yanukovych’s funds to replenish Ukraine’s international reserves to $18.4 bln

Ukraine’s international reserves will reach $18.4 billion after the funds, confiscated from the former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage, are transferred to the reserves. 

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this during a meeting with Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk and NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva on Wednesday, the president’s press service reports.

“According to the President, after the transfer of funds, the international reserves of the state will total $18.4 billion. He reminded that this amount was less than $5 billion in 2015, and grew by about $13.5 billion over this period,” reads the report.

President Poroshenko also stressed that it will strengthen the financial and banking system of Ukraine, ensure national currency stability and promote investment attractiveness of the Ukrainian economy.
