Visit of MEPs to Donbas depends on security situation

Members of the European Parliament's Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee plan to visit the controlled territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, but this possibility depends on the permission of the president of the EU legislative body.

Dariusz Rosati, the Chairman of the European Parliament's Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, said this on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The next meeting of the Parliamentary Committee of the EU-Ukraine Association will be held in Ukraine in September. We would like the members of the European Parliament to have an opportunity to visit Donetsk and Luhansk regions in order to assess first-hand the situation. We hope that it will happen, but this issue should be approved by the President of the European Parliament, taking into account the security situation," the Polish MEP said.

At the same time, Rosati has stressed that his colleagues will be ready to visit Donbas at any other time, when this will be possible.
