Italian Prime Minister calls on US, EU not to forget about crisis in Ukraine

Despite the fact that the EU’s leading economies have suffered great losses from anti-Russian sanctions, this step was the right response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni stated this during his visit to Washington, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Neither the US nor the European Union should forget about the Ukrainian crisis," the head of the Italian government said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

When asked about the relations with Moscow, Gentiloni noted that Italy and Germany had suffered the greatest losses from imposition of sanctions against Russia after it had occupied the Ukrainian Crimea and supported separatists in Donbas.

"However, we were right, reacting to what happened," the Italian leader said.
