President Poroshenko, EP delegation discuss situation in Crimea, Donbas, free trade and energy security issues

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met on Friday with the delegation of the European Parliament headed by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister.

This is reported by the press service of the Head of State.

The President of Ukraine expressed deep gratitude to the European Parliament for voting for the introduction of the visa-free regime with the EU Member States for Ukrainian citizens. "This decision clearly testifies to the strong support of the European Parliament for the European future of our state," the President of Ukraine stressed.

The parties condemned the recent actions of the Russian Federation aimed at destabilizing the situation in Donbas and undermining the peace process.

The Head of State highly appreciated the active stand of the European Parliament in protecting human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea and supporting efforts to de-occupy the peninsula and return it to the sovereignty of Ukraine.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the prospects for completing the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the ways to uncover the potential of the deep and comprehensive free trade area, including the European Parliament's approval of additional autonomous trade preferences for Ukraine, as well as the energy security of the European continent.
