Poroshenko, Merkel, Hollande stress the need to consolidate ceasefire in Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande.

This is reported by the press service of the Head of State.

"The leaders discussed the situation in Donbas. Petro Poroshenko has condemned the continuing Russia’s aggression, in particular, the use of heavy weapons despite the announcement of ceasefire since April 1," the statement reads.

As noted, the sides stressed the need to consolidate the ceasefire.

The President of Ukraine underscored the importance of release of all the captives who are now held in the occupied Donbas and in Russia.

The leaders of Ukraine, Germany and France confirmed the importance of further work towards the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Poroshenko thanked Merkel and Hollande for their support in the issue of granting Ukraine visa-free regime.
