Japan to allocate almost USD 4 mln for restoration of Donbas

The Japanese government will allocate USD 3.9 million to support people who have suffered as a result of Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and to help restore Donbas.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi said this at the press conference on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I want to make a statement regarding USD 4 million the Japanese government plans to provide starting from April this year. The aid is planned to be provided during the year to restore Donbas," the diplomat said.

He recalled that Japan had been supporting Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia's aggression in Donbas and providing economic and humanitarian assistance to settle the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. According to him, this assistance in the amount of about $4 million is continuation of such support.
