President Poroshenko, G7 Ambassadors discuss blockade of Donbas, pressure on Moscow

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held the first meeting with the G7 Ambassadors in Ukraine since Italy had assumed G7 presidency.

This is reported by the press service of the Head of State.

President Poroshenko praised the solidarity and unity of the G7 countries in providing support for the implementation of Ukraine’s domestic reforms and counteracting Russian aggression.

In this context, it was decided to continue exerting pressure on the Russian authorities to make them comply with the Minsk agreements, including by preserving and, if necessary, strengthening the international sanctions against the Russian Federation.

The parties also discussed the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine regarding the temporary suspension of the movement of goods between Ukraine and the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"The ambassadors noted they understood the Ukrainian authorities were forced to adopt such a decision, taking into account the unlawful expropriation of Ukrainian property. The parties also stressed the importance of preventing the deterioration of the humanitarian situation on both sides of the demarcation line and taking joint measures to minimize the negative consequences of restrictions on the movement of goods for the civilian population," the statement reads.
