Representatives of international organizations need continuous access to Crimea to monitor human rights situation – Klimkin

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin has stressed that representatives of the international organizations, including the UN, the Council of Europe and the OSCE, have to be provided with continuous access to occupied Crimean peninsula to monitor the human rights situation.

He said this during a speech at the High Level Segment of the 34th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

"My country is going through a direct military aggression with the illegal occupation of Crimea and a part of Donbas by the Russian Federation. As of today, 10,000 people were killed and more than 22,000 were injured in Donbas, and Crimea turned into a "gray zone" of terror and repression," he said.

Klimkin has noted that the invaders consistently violate human rights in an attempt to destroy the identity of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.

"Representatives of the international organizations, including the UN, the Council of Europe and the OSCE, should have a continuous access to the Crimean peninsula in order to monitor the human rights situation," the foreign minister said.
