Canadian opposition calls on Government to provide specific assistance to Ukraine

Canadian parliamentary opposition has proposed an assistance plan to Ukraine and urged the Government to take concrete steps to support Ukraine in confronting Russian aggression.

Canadian Minister of State of Foreign Affairs Peter Kent has presented this plan, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Canada has been a reliable ally and helper of Ukraine for a long time. Since the sovereignty of Ukraine continues to be at risk, Canadian Government should take concrete steps to reassure Ukrainians that Canada will continue to support them in the face of Russia's military aggression," Kent said.

"As the violence and tension in eastern Ukraine continue to grow, Ukraine needs an increase in Canadian support but not decrease," Kent added.
