EU plans to prolong sanctions against Yanukovych, other former officials next week

The EU will prolong for the next 12 months personal sanctions against former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and other former officials of his regime.

Ukrinform learned this from the EU Council in Brussels.

"Next week, the ambassadors of the member states at the European Council intend to adopt a decision to prolong the sanctions against the former Ukrainian officials, who were involved in the misappropriation of state assets," the agency employee said.

According to the procedure, this decision should be finally approved without discussion at the EU Council.

Restrictive measures will be prolonged for the next 12 months.
