Poroshenko urges MPs to endorse amendments to Law on Trial in Absentia to transfer accusations against Yanukovych to court

President Petro Poroshenko has urged MPs to endorse amendments to the Law on Trial in Absentia to transfer accusations against Viktor Yanukovych to the court.

The President said this in the course of the meeting with families of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the press service of the Head of State reported.

“We cannot wait for months. On April 15, the law expires and they will avoid responsibility again. This is our firm and persistent request: vote for the law that allows to submit the case against Yanukovych to the court this week,” the Head of State noted.

The President emphasized the importance of this trial of Yanukovych. “To deprive him of the title of President in the court. Because the court establishes guilt and the parliament provides a political assessment only,” Petro Poroshenko said.
