NABU managed to return more than UAH 115 mln over 14 months

During the pre-trial investigation stage, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) over 14 months of work managed to return over UAH 115 million to the national budget and companies that suffered from corrupt activities.

NABU Director Artem Sytnyk said this at a press conference entitled “Results of activities of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine over the period from August 2016 till February 2017,” which was held at Ukrinform.

“What do we have now; namely over 14 months of the pre-trial investigation? During the pre-trial investigation stage, over UAH 115 million was returned to the state, this is what we’ve managed to return voluntarily [without court rulings],” he said.

Nevertheless, court sentences are the main reasons for the return of funds to the national budget, government accounts or other companies suffered from corrupt activities, Sytnyk added.

The NABU Director also said that NABU over 14 months of work "prevented embezzlement of more than half a billion hryvnias and revealed almost 83 billion hryvnias in losses incurred by the state”.
