President Poroshenko, U.S. Special Envoy Hochstein agree to raise role of Ukrainian gas transport system in EU energy security

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of the U.S. Department of State Amos Hochstein, the president’s press service reported on Thursday evening. 

In particular, the Ukrainian president and the U.S. special envoy agreed to coordinate efforts to increase the role and importance of the Ukrainian gas transport system in ensuring gas transit to the EU countries and energy security of Europe.

“The parties discussed further reformation of the energy sector of Ukraine, diversification of energy supply sources of our country and attraction of American investments and technologies in the energy sector of our state,” reads a report.

Also, the Ukrainian president and U.S. special envoy discussed the issues of further reform of the Ukrainian energy sector, diversification of energy supply sources of Ukraine and attraction of U.S. investments and technologies in the energy sector of Ukraine.

In addition, President Poroshenko thanked Amos Hochstein for the U.S. assistance provided to Ukraine to construct an arch for the new safe confinement for the Shelter Object at the Chornobyl NPP, improvement of nuclear safety and reduction of energy dependence of Ukraine.
