Government initiates two-fold increase in minimum wage from January 1, 2017

The Cabinet of Ministers initiates a two-fold increase in the minimum wage to UAH 3,200 from January 1, 2017, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has stated.

“We propose that in 2017 the minimum wage in the country is amounted to UAH 3,200. We will ensure a two-fold increase in wages. From January 1, 2017, no Ukrainian citizen will get less than UAH 3,200 in both governmental and non-governmental sectors,” Groysman said at a government’s sitting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He also reminded that the consumer basket will be estimated at UAH 3,200 in 2017.

“This means that for the first time in 25 years the minimum wage will be equal to the legal and real subsistence wage,” the prime minister stressed.
