Mark Feygin: Sushchenko in Russia is deprived of right to defense

Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko, who has been arrested for two months in Moscow, is deprived of his right to defense.

Journalist’s lawyer Mark Feygin said this on 112 Ukraine TV Channel.

“I personally brought to the investigation department my request to join the case and a permit to entry  the pre-trial detention center, there should have been no obstacles. Because I have to immediately start defending my client. In particular, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen for him, and I have to immediately appeal against it. So he is deprived of the right to defense”, Feygin said.

Feygin said an investigator didn’t allow him to visit Sushchenko in the pre-trial detention center as it is envisaged in the Criminal Procedure Code.
