This has been said in a statement of the Embassy of Japan regarding the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in Crimea.

"Japan does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in March of 2014, respectively, the legitimacy of the results of "elections" to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which were held in Crimea on September 18," reads a statement.

It is emphasized that Japan supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and does not recognize the attempt to change the status quo through the use of force.
