Ukrainian Prosecutor General: 410,000 criminal cases recorded in 2016

Since the beginning of the current year, 410,000 criminal violations have been recorded in Ukraine, which is by 25% more than in the previous year.

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said this at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on legislative support of law enforcement activities, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

At the same time, according to Lutsenko, the Interior Ministry reports that the number of murders decreased from 2,100 to 1,200 in 2016.

“At first glance, it is really so, but if you look [at statistics] in the regions then we see that all the reduction was achieved in Donetsk region - from 1,170 murders to 229 due to the freezing of hostilities. At the same time, the number of murders increased in peaceful Zakarpattia, Kherson, Kyiv regions,” the prosecutor general noted.
