Presidents of Ukraine and Argentina define priorities of bilateral cooperation

In the framework of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held negotiations with President of Argentina Mauricio Macri.

This has been reported by the press service of the Head of State.

The Heads of State noted the fact that the meeting between the Ukrainian and Argentine Presidents was taking place for the first time in the last 16 years.

The parties emphasized the importance of restoring active political and business contacts between the two states at all levels.

The two Presidents confirmed mutual interest in developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation and defined priorities: cooperation in energy sphere, space missiles and aircraft building industry, as well as agriculture.

Petro Poroshenko emphasized that Ukraine would always remember the fact that Argentina had been the only Latin American country to recognize the Ukrainian People's Republic in February 1921 and establish diplomatic relations with it. It has also been the first Latin American country to recognize the independence of Ukraine on December 5, 1991.
