Steinmeier: Europe not to recognize legitimacy of State Duma elections in Crimea

Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has stated that the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which are to be held in Crimea, will not be recognized.

He said this at a joint press conference with foreign ministers of Ukraine and France, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We will not recognize these elections, the same as we do not recognize the occupation of Crimea," Steinmeier said.

He also reminded that there would be no OSCE observers at those elections.

In turn, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault noted that Ukraine is a unitary state.
